The Down Syndrome Centre is a charity organization set up in 2014, that provides Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Early intervention support to children aged 0-18 years with a diagnosis of Down syndrome across its two centres in Swords and Sandyford.

We are currently seeking a full time Senior Speech and Language Therapist at our Swords Centre. 

Overview of duties and responsibilities

  • Assessment and Evaluation:
    • Conduct formal/informal assessments for speech, language, and communication needs in  children with Down syndrome 
    • Regularly evaluate progress and adjust therapy plans.
  • Intervention:
    • Conduct therapy sessions (individual, joint, group, teletherapy) at the center.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work with professionals (Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists) for holistic care.
    • Collaborate with families for goal incorporation.
    • Support educators and staff through calls, emails, and school visits.
  • Service development:
    • Participate in the planning and development of the Speech & Language Therapy Service.
    • Contribute to and take part in initiatives to move the service forward and add service value
  • Documentation:
    • Maintain accurate records of assessments and therapy sessions.
    • Provide reports for assessments and therapy progress.
  • Training and Education:
    • Conduct training sessions for parents, caregivers, and stakeholders (webinars, information evenings).
  • Professional Development:
    • Engage in ongoing professional development.
    • Stay current with research papers.
    • Attend conferences, workshops, and training sessions for skill enhancement.

Minimum 3 years post graduate clinical speech and language therapy experience 

Be currently registered as a Speech & Language Therapist by the Speech & Language Therapists Registration Board at CORU.


Experience in a Paediatric or Disability setting 

 A full clean driver's license and access to your own car.
